Transnational Workshop on Conclusion of SmartROOT project, open Synergies and further Exploitation

On Wednesday 30/08/2023, the Transnational Workshop on Conclusion of SmartROOT project, open Synergies and further Exploitation took place physically in Kozani, Greece.

The multiplier event brought together academics, professionals, and graduates in the fields of agriculture, livestock, IT, and finance, involving as panelists Mr. Kostas Kyropoulos, Saffron Cultivator, Greece and Mr. George Amponis, Software Engineer, K3Y LTD, Bulgaria for the 1st roundtable session. Then, Mr. Ioannis Zozas, National Bank of Greece, Investments and Mr. Christos Belidis, Wine Producer for the 2nd roundtable session. Last but note least, the panelists for the 3rd Roundtable session were Mr. Theofilos Milonas, IT Business Association of Northern Greece, Ms. Alexandra Giola Genni, Project Manager in MetaMind Innovations P.C., Greece and Ms. Vasileia Vasileiadou, Department of Agricultural Development, Democritus University of Thrace, Greece.

Reaching an audience of more than 40 participants, Dr. Stamatia Bibi, Assistant Professor of University of Western Macedonia, Kozani, Greece welcomed the audience and presented the main objectives of this workshop.

Then, Dr. Thomas Lagkas, Assistant Professor with International Hellenic University, Greece as the first keynote speaker presented the main aspects of Augmented Reality Learning Environments for Mixed Farming Systems and coordinated a discussion that highlighted the expected impact and main challenges for broad adoption of Mixed Farming Systems in Europe.

During the 2nd Roundtable Session, Stamatia Bibi, Assistant Professor of University of Western Macedonia, Kozani, Greece gave a presentation on SMARTROOT’s IT teaching tools. Following up, he coordinated a discussion that pointed out the significance and limitations of IT tools in the broad adoption of Mixed Farming Systems.

The 3rd Roundtable Session was led by Dr. Lena Lidfors, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Sweden. She presented key points concerning the study of Mixed Farming Systems through the SmartROOT project and then coordinated a discussion concerning the forecasts about the transformation of the market around the developments Mixed Farming Systems, as well as the required skills that need to be developed by professionals in the smart farming domain and how they should be related with training/educational programmes.

The most efficient route to Kozani is from Thessaloniki airport.
KTEL Macedonia offers multiple daily routes to Kozani.
Once you reach KTEL Kozani, taxis are always available at the main entrance (4-6 euro to reach any of the recommended hotels listed below)

Regarding hotels, we recommend the following hotels:

  1. Aliakmon Hotel: the hotel is located near the city center (a 5 minute walk)
  2. Katerina Hotel: the hotel is located a bit further from the city center ( a 10-15 minute walk)
  3. Ermionio Hotel: right at the city center.
  4. Anesis Hotel: the hotel is located near the city center (a 5 minute walk)
