Intensive Study Program on MFS – Utilization of IT Tools under multidisciplinary perspective

Under-graduate, graduate and post-graduate students from the participating universities interacted with experimental infrastructure and solutions.

Study visit to a vineyard in Grevena, Greece

On the 27th of August, the partners visited a vineyard in Grevena, where research is conducted on filed monitoring by utilising IoT sensors. The visitors had the opportunity to observe the sensors placed in the field, learn how they can used, placed in the ground as well as program them on the spot.

Study visit to Velvetos, Greece to get familiar with Drone Monitoring

On the 28th of August, the partners visited a site in Velvetos, Greece  where research is conducted on filed monitoring by utilising IoT sensors and drones. The visitors had the opportunity to learn about the structure, the characteristics, the overall equipment and on-board sensors of drones by professional trainers. They also witnessed the analysis of images collected in real-time.

Training activity at University of Western Macedonia (Z.E.P. Campus): Intensive Study Program on MFS – Utilization of IT Tools under multidisciplinary perspective

From the 29th to 31st of August the rest of the training activities for the utilization of IT Tools under multidisciplinary perspective in the premise of the SMARTROOT project took place at the University of Western Macedonia (UOWM) at Kozai, Greece.

UOWM’s workshop on IoT and UAV applications

Each output leader presented a live demonstration of the functionality and capabilities of the developed tools (Openhub – UOWM, Virtual Farm Hub – INFALIA, MFS Educational Management Platform- AGRIVI and Augment Reality Learning Environment- IHU), by executing a scenario based on cases derived from real life needs.

All students were trained on the projects tools, made pilots on experimental data and provided feedback. Overall, the training event left the participants impressed and satisfied by the quality and progress of the tools, giving them confidence for the success of the end result.

How to reach University of Western Macedonia:

The most efficient route to Kozani is from Thessaloniki airport.
KTEL Macedonia offers multiple daily routes to Kozani.
Once you reach KTEL Kozani, taxis are always available at the main entrance (4-6 euro to reach any of the recommended hotels listed below)

Regarding hotels, we recommend the following hotels:

  1. Aliakmon Hotel: the hotel is located near the city center (a 5 minute walk)
  2. Katerina Hotel: the hotel is located a bit further from the city center ( a 10-15 minute walk)
  3. Ermionio Hotel: right at the city center.
  4. Anesis Hotel: the hotel is located near the city center (a 5 minute walk)
